Accreditation Assessment

North Miami Police Chief Marc Elias, Jr. announced today that the North Miami Police Department will undergo an accreditation review by a team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation on April 16, 17, and 18th, 2013.

The assessment team leader will be Lt. Joe King from the Punta Gorda Police Department.  The additional team members will be Ms. Wanda Binz from the Ponce Inlet Police Department, and Sgt. Jason Adams from the Venice Police Department.  They will review all aspects of the Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. The Department has to comply with approximately 260 standards to receive accredited status.

Agency members and the public wishing to offer comments to the assessment team or should contact the North Miami Police Department’s Accreditation Manager at 305-891-0294.  Anyone wishing to obtain more information about CFA or offer written comment on the Department’s ability to comply with the standards is encouraged to forward their comments in writing to: CFA, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, Florida  32302 or email: info@flaccrediation.org.

At the conclusion of the assessment, the team will report their findings to the Commission.  If the Commission grants accreditation to the Department, it will be for a three (3) year period.  Accredited status is a highly sought recognition of law enforcement professional excellence, Chief Elias said.
