Home Security

A well lit home deters burglars. Use timers and motion lights. Always lock doors and windows. Set alarm when leaving.

Ask a trusted neighbor to pick-up your mail daily or stop delivery. Cancel all deliveries, until you return.

Vehicle Security

Always lock your vehicle.

Never leave valuables in plain view.

Try to remove all valuables when possible.

Park in a well lit area and stay alert.

The North Miami Police Department is proud to report a 7% reduction in Part 1 Crimes for 2013 in comparison to 2012.

This was the lowest number of Part 1 Crimes reported since 1979 and approximately 50% less than the number reported in 1994.

Interim Chief Burgess would like to congratulate the 20 NMPD participants at the MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) 5K Run/ Walk on February 9th. Officer Aledda was 3rd overall and 1st in his age group, Major Bage was 9th overall and 2nd in his age group, Detective Brinson was 21st overall and 1st in his age group.  Administrative Assistant Luz D’Urbano was 27th overall and 3rd for her age group.

North Miami has a false alarm reduction ordinance (12-82) which requires you to register your alarm and pay a $25.00 fee yearly. Please visit www.northmiamipolice or www.crywolf.us for more information.
All properties that have a public right away behind them (alleyway or waterway) must display their property address (house number) between 3 and 6 inches in size (Ord 5-19).
Code violations can be reported
directly to the code office between 8AM and 5PM, Mon-Fri, 305.893.6511. After hours complaints can be made by calling the Police Department at 305-891-8111.
