The North Miami Police Department’s “Officers of the Month" for January 2010 are Officers James Stuart and Willie Walden.
Officers Stuart and Walden are Director and Assistant Director, respectively, of the North Miami Police Athletic League. They have received praise from both the students and parents for their superb management skills. For the past year, Officers Walden and Stuart have worked tirelessly with members of the city government, as well as with citizens and business owners in North Miami.
As a result, they have obtained the funds and support so the P.A.L. program has obtained their own building and resources to expand even further. The building provides a single location to develop programs and activities which contribute to the develop of character, integrity, physical and mental fitness, and the attainment of discipline, self-esteem and positive moral values. The activities foster better relations through communication between Law Enforcement Officers and youth of our community. Just some of the many programs offered are tutoring, after school athletic programs and the creation of a landscaping business that will be run solely by P.A.L. students.
Officers Walden and Stuart are enthusiastic and have devoted a great deal of their personal time to the North Miami Police Department's youth and after school programs. Their influence and dedication have enabled them to be positive role models in the lives of many of the young people in and around the City of North Miami.
Due to Officers Stuart and Walden's dedication, hard work, and notable demonstration of community spirit, they have been chosen as Officers of the Month for January 2010 and will be honored at the Greater North Miami Chamber of Commerce luncheon, held monthly at the Miami Shores Country Club, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Noon.
