Major Ron Simpson has been with the North Miami Police Department for 28 years and is currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Section. This Section makes up nearly two-thirds of the Police Department's sworn personnel. This Section also contains the Public Service Aides, Honor Guard, K-9 Unit, SWAT Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team.
During his career with North Miami, Major Ron Simpson has been assigned to Uniform Patrol, Tactical Unit, Marine Patrol, and the Vice Intelligence and Narcotics Unit. He has supervised the Special Investigations Unit, Traffic Unit, K-9, Uniform Patrol and the units of the Investigations Section. He is also a Hostage Negotiator and conducts training for the Department in the high liability areas of Firearms, Defensive Tactics, ASP, ADS and Critical Incident Response.
Major Simpson attended the North Miami Senior High School and Miami-Dade Community College and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Command Officers Course. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police (DCACP). He has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
