Missing Persons

All reports of Missing Persons made to the North Miami Police Department are assigned to a detective for follow-up investigation.

In cases where the missing person is a juvenile, elderly, or endangered for any reason, a county-wide request for assistance from all police agencies is made in an attempt to locate the person as quickly as possible. A nation-wide computer message, available to all law enforcement agencies, is issued in all missing person cases.

A number of resources are utilized, such as media assistance, bloodhound tracking, grid searches, helicopter assisted searches etc., when circumstances warrant.

There is no required waiting period to be met before making a missing persons report. In fact, especially where children, elderly persons, or endangered persons are involved, the sooner a report is initiated the better.

The proper authority to call to make a report of a missing person is the police department having jurisdiction where the missing person was last seen.

To report a person missing from within the city of North Miami call
(305) 891-8111.
